Tour Europe By Sea On European Cruise Lines

When an American thinks of a cruise, what comes to mind is most likely a trip on a huge floating resort, visiting multiple exotic islands off the coast of the United States, or possibly Mexico. However, it is certainly worth remembering that there are many other places that you can take your cruise. European cruise lines offer you the adventure and relaxation of a cruise intermingled with visits to top European destinations!

Of course there are many different types of cruises that you can choose from. Here we will discuss some of the options available to you. Of course not every option is available on every European cruise line, so you will have to do some shopping around to find the cruise line that offers the best selection of your top choices.

Different European cruise lines offer different routes. Of course the most popular cruising destination is in the Mediterranean. You can also take a cruise through the Baltic Sea starting in Scandinavia and ending up in Russia. You might opt for a cruise that stays on the Europe's western coast, or even just in the British Isles. Some cruises will take you through much of Europe right over to Iceland or the Canary Islands!

Another consideration is what type of trip you'd like. Are you wanting to mostly stay on board and view Europe from there, enjoying the cruise for the sake of cruising, or are you looking for multiple all-day getaways where you have the chance to experience some of those famous port cities? If you are interested in doing this, sort of touring Europe by boat, you will want to look into a port-intensive cruise. This type of cruise usually allows you to spend the day in the city, and sails for the next destination in the afternoon or evening.

Some other things to think about are other amenities. Are you just looking for basic room and board, or do you want to live in luxury and eat finer foods? Find a package that meets your budget and standards. Also, do you have children? Virtually every cruise offers activities and fun for children, but definitely look into what your children will be able to do on board. For a real family adventure, you may opt for a cruise line that is geared very specifically to families, such as a Disney cruise.

Keep in mind that the size of your ship, the quality and size of your accommodations, the length of the cruise and the stops you make will all affect the cost of the cruise. European cruise lines offer discounts for a number of reasons, so if you're on a tighter budget, consider going at the very end of the season, or to the less popular destinations. Also, there is usually a discount for early booking.
