Things You Should Consider When Planning Your Cruise Lines Vacation

Imagine the feel of the cool wind on your face and the smell of the salty sea whiffing about as you and your partner stroll the deck on the ship of your favorite cruise line. There is no experience quite like it. Years ago you selected your favorite cruise ship line after you did your research looking for the qualities and characteristics you wanted before investing in your on the sea getaway.

Your first voyage may have been to celebrate that special event in your life such as a honeymoon or anniversary cruise. However, before embarking on your cruise and even well before you began collecting the requirements for your adventure at sea, there were quite a few things you had to consider and decide on, such as:

* Where do I want to go? - Cruise ship lines offer cruises to many different tropical and non-tropical destinations around the world. Tropical destinations with their creamy , soft sandy beaches, and fruity drinks with little umbrellas afloat remain the most popular destinations. However, cruise lines also offer non-traditional destinations and there are some that may specialize in these exotic non-tropic getaways.

* How much do I have to spend? - This question does not have a single easy answer. Cruise lines use many factors to determine the cost of their voyages. These include, time of year, length of trip, destination, type of accomodation, types of entertainment offered (some cruises have headliners entertaining) kids cruising, type of ship and more.

* How many days will I cruise? - You can cruise for as little as two days, a local overnight, up to an around -the-world voyage lasting several months. Most typical Caribbean cruise ship lines offer cruises anywhere from a four-day trip to several weeks onboard.

* What is a cruise dress code? - If this is not what you want, be careful not to select a cruise that requires formal dress dining at night. However, for the most part, cruises to tropical destinations elicit a casual atmosphere accompanied by casual dress. Some sites visited at ports of call might also dictate dress selection. Always make sure you conduct a thorough research of dressing needs so that you can pack the clothes necessary to meet whatever requirements you may encounter.

* Mix and Mingle? - Apart from the time you spend in your cabin, cruising doesn`t provide a great deal of privacy when participating in shared environments like dining and entertainment venues. Also, group cruising with others with whom you share a common denominator is a popular choice. Other popular themed choices include, senior`s cruise, single`s cruise, family cruise and others.

* Also, many honeymoon cruises offer services like getting married at sea. This can be an attractive feature when searching for the right cruise ship line. Some cruise lines also offer "burial-at-sea" services where loved ones can inter their dearly departed to the waiting embrace of Mother Ocean.

Bear in mind that every cruise line is different and they each compete with the other for their share of the cruise market. To this end, many of them offer features that separate them from the competition, something that a well informed consumer can take advantage of when selecting a cruise ship line.
